CRL, in collaboration with National Highways and its supply chain partners, has supported a community initiative at the Beechcroft Hub in Erdington, operated by Birmingham Mind. Established in 1962, Birmingham Mind provides vital support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, helping them build resilience and regain independence within their local communities.
Located close to CRL’s M6 Gravelly Hill Box Beams project, the Beechcroft Hub serves as an important space for wellbeing, offering outdoor areas for relaxation, social interaction, and therapeutic activities. Recognising the value of this facility, members of the Highways team, alongside National Highways and supply chain partners, volunteered their time and resources to enhance the hub’s external environment.
Over the course of the initiative, the team delivered a range of improvements to the gardens and recreational spaces. Works included the installation of new turf and paving to create safe and accessible surfaces, as well as the construction and installation of planters, bird boxes, tables, and benches. A dedicated raised area was also built to provide a comfortable space for rest and quiet reflection. All timber features were carefully assembled and painted to ensure durability and a high-quality finish.
This collaborative effort has transformed the outdoor areas into a more welcoming and functional environment for those who rely on the hub’s services. The improvements not only enhance the visual appeal of the space but also support the wellbeing of users by creating a calm and engaging setting.
The initiative reflects CRL’s ongoing commitment to delivering social value alongside its infrastructure projects, contributing positively to the communities in which it operates while supporting meaningful local causes.
